Glance – a lock screen feature inbuilt on Xiaomi & Samsung smartphones

Hey guys. I hope you are doing well. So, today I have some cool information to share with you all regarding Glance – a lock screen feature inbuilt on Xiaomi & Samsung smartphones.

This feature is paired with the improved UX on the Samsung J series, which I’ve been checking out recently. Personally, I found the experience to be very new and exciting as all the content I wanted was on my lock screen without the need for an app.

The Glance user experience is very simple as each time you press the power button to wake your phone, you see a beautiful story that comes in the form of a stunning image with a headline. In order to read the story or explore it more, you just need to swipe down from the headline. This either leads to a summary of the story or a short video.

I am in love with the overall content functionality and innovation in the Glance lock screen feature. Your lock screen will show you something new and informative through the day, making the experience a consistently refreshing one. It’s bound to be a hit with everyone! Personally, since I’ve started using it, I’ve become hooked to it. I can’t stop checking my lock screen to see what new story is there. So let me tell you what I like most about this cool new feature

  • There is a lot of variety

It doesn’t matter if you’re a sports fan or a car fan or just want the news or updates about Bollywood, it’s all there on Glance. There are about 18 different content categories to follow, so you can see only content of your choice on the lock screen. And you can also keep changing what you want to see by going back and changing the categories that you follow.

  • Glance has content in local languages

By making content available in languages like Hindi and Tamil, Glance shows that they really care about Indian users. Most of the content on the internet is only in English, making it hard for people who prefer Indian languages to access the content. With Glance, now they can also enjoy the content on the internet. It’s really great

  • There are a lot of videos

It’s not just text-based articles etc, Glance has a lot of content that is video, making it very easy to enjoy on the go. Most people these days prefer video to read long articles so this availability of video makes Glance really very enjoyable to use for everyone.

Apart from these top 3 points, I must mention a couple of other cool things about Glance too, the best being the different types of content that I can see. And this is not just about the category – like news, travel, Bollywood etc, but about the format of the content. Apart from videos and interesting articles, you also get music, brain teasers, puzzles and games on the lock screen, with Glance. The best part about these games is that you don’t have to download any of them. You can play them directly from the lock screen!

To summarize, I don’t think there is any other technology out in the market that gives all the benefits that Glance does, on the lock screen. It’s so simple and beautiful and useful that I won’t be surprised to see people choosing to buy a phone depending on whether it has Glance or not! I know that I will look for it for my next phone.

Do any of you have Glance on your phones? Do let me know your thoughts in the comments.
